new words

Tired of being left at a loss for words when confronted by the irrational streams of nonsense spewing from young students, old politicians, and cable news shows, newwords sought to enforce logical (or at least linguistic) standards to bring the world back to sanity; he failed. But inspired by the American Dialect Society’s recognition of Stephen Colbert’s “truthiness”, he turned to the least efficacious outlet: the web.

newwords will coin words, define them, and provide examples of usage. Whenever possible, the inspiration for the word will also be revealed. (Often, I will admit, they come from Ms. Newwords’ English Comp students.)

newwords welcomes suggestions for words. Just keep it as clean as possible.
