Should a Congressman (or more accurately, his fundraising committee) pay for the extra security costs of hosting the President?
This is an issue that seems to pop up again and again in northern Indiana. With President George W. Bush scheduled to appear at a fundraiser for 2nd-District Republican Chris Chocola on Thursday (2/23), it seems like a good time to honor “The Count” with his own word:
chocola (n) [chawk-Oh-la] One who advocates shifting avoidable financial burdens on to the general taxpayer.

As you may know, Indiana’s polls are among the first to close — 6pm. In an effort to make voting easier for people who actually work, State Senator Billie Breaux of Indianapolis introduced an amendment to keep the polls open until 9pm. The response of the Senate Elections Committee chairwoman, Connie Lawson:
Besides, Lawson said, by law Indiana’s bars must remain closed as long as the polls are open. Later voting hours would mean the bars would be closed longer, she said.
Which brings us to our word of the day:
dutton (v) [duh-tuhn] To shirk political responsibility for the sake of chemical pleasures.

Okay. Stop. Someone needs to investigate the serious drinking problem in the Indiana Statehouse. First we can’t leave the polls open longer because we can’t go an extra hour without alcohol, and now this. While introducing a bill to re-legalize fireworks in Indiana, Rep. Thomas Weatherwax (R-Logansport)offered up this revealing tidbit:
